AMD x6 1100T vs AMD fx 8150
I got a 990FXA UD3 motherboard and now i'm in the middle of considering which cpu to get. Both cpus run about the same in it's regular state. The fx series has been known to be a disappointment even though if you turn off 4 cores it runs way better but why pay for 8 and use 4. What do you guys think about this? You think it's worth the money to pay $20 more to just turn off the cores? I'm really only playing ava and want 250+ fps and i guess to be able to record quality videos(legit play).

long term... definitely worth the money for paying more. you never know if you'd ever need to run a virtual environment, or if you get a hold of technology that allows you to utilize all of them.
although ava may not use all cores, the video recorder you're using might... if you have the money, go fer it.

My friend i think u must forget AMD and go get intel i7 950 the cheapest cpu of series i7 but it's very very good and u will be very happy with the speed and with trible channel ram that has,i know intel is very expensive but it's better than AMD....or if you dont like intel just get FX8150 black edition 3,6 mhz and u can overclock at 4,2 mhz, from 8 cores unlock the 6 cores and 8 mb L2+L3 cache....and AVA can run with dual core perfect so u will have 6 core so no problem at all

I am building an amd computer and in a couple of weeks i will be building and intel computer(honestly just because i can)
intel has proven that their latest cpus are better for gaming and amd is better for multitasking, so if i was strictly just gaming i would get the i7, but i will be recording also and probably be on msn, Internet browser and etc so in this case amd would be the better option. Also i7 you can get a six core or quad core depending on the model you purchase

I understand. I go to college and manage/own a restaurant/fast food place. I'm trying to save up money all while building new computers and a laptop.

btw monster... just so you know. the i7 runs much cooler than the AMD's.
I'm running an AMD and this thing turns my game room into an oven. I have to run it with the case open, and an additional tabletop fan next to it to keep it cooled.
my other PC is an i7, and that thing is nice and running low temps. case can be closed and runs fine no problem.
if my AMD overheats, it freezes up, and/or restarts itself.
Just something to consider since the topic of comparison came up.

Intel by far beats out AMD with the new technologies, but not without the $$$.
Very good in managing your business and going to school. best of luck man.

you're right that the human eye isn't able to see past it... however, the additional fps that is to be attained is due to other programs running in the background.
like in your example, yours run at 180 fps when fraps is running. However, we do not know what plans Monster has in store to run, therefore, the 250+ that he wants i'm sure is for a very good reason.

This is true the additional fps will help when recording and the CPU runs great but my computer has failed me I have to reinstall windows and will be gone for a couple of days because my disk drive is not compatible with my motherboard. Now I wait as newegg send me the new on I ordered.
